The city of Carmel is an affluent Indianapolis suburb that's home to approximately 86,000 residents as of 2013. Carmel is most known for its beautiful neighborhoods, low taxes and excellent schools. Not only is Carmel considered one of best places to live in Indiana, but is also regarded as a top place to live nationally. A few awards it's received are #1 Best Place to Live in America by CNN Money Magazine in 2012, Best Cities to Relocate To in America (CNBC), and The Surprising Cities Creating The Most Tech Jobs in 2013 (Forbes).
A huge pro to living in Carmel is its school system. Carmel Clay Schools are all outstanding schools that are always highly rated and higher performing than almost any in the state. Carmel High School has very competitive sports teams, which make supporting the Greyhounds fun and exciting.
Carmel has many attractions that draw in visitors from all over the area. It has a vibrant and historic Arts and Design District full of galleries, unique shops and restaurants. Once an old and unpopular part of town, the Arts and Design District has helped bring excitement and beauty back to the area. The area is home to the Worlds Smallest Children’s Art Gallery- worth a visit! Carmel has one of the most impressive outdoor shopping malls in Indiana, Clay Terrace. Clay Terrace has blocks of pedestrian friendly streets and upscale stores and popular restaurants. Currently being built is the Carmel City Center, which when finished will be a great shopping and dining destination. It will also have an outdoor amphitheater and will be the location of the Center for the Performing Arts. Another major attraction in Carmel is the Monon Community Center. The center features a huge outdoor water park and has access to the Monon Trail. The Monon Trail is a total of 15.7 miles for biking, jogging or walking through the city as well as through natural landscaping. A feature unique and unavoidable in Carmel is: roundabouts! Carmel has more roundabouts than any other city in the country, totaling more than 80. The roundabouts make a big difference with the flow of commuters.
